Here are some links to the databases that can be searched when conducting research.

List of Alternate Databases

  • Library, Information Science & Technology Abstracts 
    Indexes core journals,  priority journals, books, research reports and proceedings. Subject coverage includes  librarianship, classification, cataloging, bibliometrics, online information retrieval, information management and more.
  • Catholic Research Resources Portal 
    The Catholic Research Resources Portal, or “Catholic Portal,” provides global, freely available access to rare, unique and/or uncommon materials in libraries, seminaries, special collections and archives. By electronically bringing together resources in many formats from many collections, the Portal enables easy, effective and global discovery of Catholic research resources.
  • Catholic Library Project
    A site focused on academic research of Catholic tradition. The most unique feature of the site is the ability to view and search on English-Original dual-text works of Tradition, which begins now with the Fathers of the Church. Catholic Library Project contains over 55,000 pages in dual-text format, accomplished by means of hand parallelization through the insertion of more than 25,000 data points. This is one of the largest dual-text collections in the world, and certainly the largest digital collection available for Catholic studies. Our motivation for this work comes from the significant benefit that side-by-side viewing represents for students and professors alike. The total content of the site includes over 250,000 pages in Greek, Latin, and English.
  • Directory of Open Access Journals
    Provides access to scientific and other scholarly journals that publish research or review papers in full text.
  • ERIC – The Education Resources Information Center
    The world’s premier database of journal and non-journal education literature.
  • Highwire – Free Online Articles Kennedy Institute of Ethics
    HighWire Press is a division of the Stanford University Libraries, which produces the online versions of high-impact, peer-reviewed journals and other scholarly content. Databases from the National Reference Center for Bioethics Literature and the National Information Resource on Ethics and Human Genetics.
  • Peeters Online Bibliographies
    Peeters Online Journals is an online database for academic resources. It provides worldwide access to a variety of journals in several languages. Peeters Online Journals gives you the opportunity to retrieve the articles you were looking for in an easy, but accurate way.
  • Religious & Theological Abstracts
    Religion and theology.
  • Pubget
    Pubget is the search engine for life science PDFs. Pubget makes scientific research easier by simplifying the process of finding, managing and analyzing scientific papers.
  • Convocate
    Convocate Developed at Notre Dame, Convocate is a research tool for investigating the connections between international human rights and Catholic social teaching. It searches theological and legal documents simultaneously, returning results in such a way that users are able to compare these bodies of thought side by side.
